The Hereford Cathedral School Cantabile Girls Choir is an international prize winning Girls Choir and runners-up in the final of the BBC’s Songs of Praise School Choir of the Year in 2014.
It was founded in 2008 by Jo Williamson, taking the best choir prize at the 2009 Herefordshire Festival just a year afterwards and is one of the amazing musical activities at the HCS Music School that the girls take part in.
They so impressed Blake when they provided backing vocals at the Courtyard in Hereford that they were asked back to perform two of their own tracks with Blake at Gloucester Cathedral in 2010.
Despite only being able to practice as a choir for about one and a half hours a week, and very few performances a year, they have continued to go from strength to strength under Jo’s inspiring leadership.
They continue to build on their earlier success in reaching the BBC’s Songs of Praise School Choir of the Year semi-final in 2012. In both 2013 and 2012 they won the International Senior Children’s Choir competition at the renowned Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod and sang to a rapturous audience at the Three Choirs Festival, hosted by Hereford in 2012.
