Due to the generosity of Herefordshire businesses and the wonderful organisation skills of Caroline Mifflin and Maddie Roberts (not to mention the Cantabile parents and helpers too of course) everyone enjoyed a fantastic evening of fundraising for the Nepal Earthquake Disaster Ghachok fund, including the Lord Lieutenant of Herefordshire Lady Darnley.
Following a pre-concert meal courtesy of Pizza Express, Hereford Cathedral School’s Cantabile girls choir performed a wide repertoire of songs which included Gilbert and Sullivan classics, and a preview of their Llangollen Eisteddfod 2015 songs. The audience at the Left Bank in Hereford gave them a standing ovation at the end of the evening and hopefully the final total raised will be worth a standing ovation for everyone who was involved.

Cantabile are hoping that they can use their recent success on Songs of Praise to attract support for a concert organised for the 3rd July 2015 at 7 pm by the Hereford Cathedral School’s PTA, at the Left Bank in Hereford.
The tickets are only £15 and include canapés and a glass of Prosecco and can be purchased from the HCS Music School on Castle Street or from Peter Prosser Hairdressing on Church Street, both in Hereford.
There will also be a Silent Auction and draw on the night.
If you can’t make it to the concert then it’s still possible to help by making a donation.
The event organisers are: Caroline Mifflin: 07918 172504 or Maddy Roberts: 07855 943901.
For Cantabile supporters old and new October promises to be a delicious treat.
Beautiful St Deinst Church in Llangarron is hosting a concert 6:30 for 7pm on the 10th October 2014 (yes, this Friday). Those braving the predicted squally weather will be treated to performances from Cantabile and the HCS Senior Wind Quintet. Tickets must be bought in advance from either the HCS Music School in Hereford or contact Rachel Hitchen 01989 770590 email@example.com
Cantabile’s Autumn singing engagements culminate with Hereford’s own answer to the ‘Proms’ on the 18th October. The Military Charities ‘Proms’ starts at 7:30pm with Cantabile and the fabulous British Police Symphony Orchestra promising to make it a memorable evening for all involved. Tickets can be bought at the Cathedral Shop and also the Outback in Church Street.
Singing for shoppers was the first of Cantabile’s efforts to raise funds so that they could take part in the European Choir Games in Magdeburg in 2015. However practicalities mean they have now set their sights on the 2016 Games so they have more time to raise the funds needed.
On Saturday members of the Choir, with Mrs Williamson, made their own contribution to the Flower Festival and h-art events in Herefordshire to sing for visitors to Hereford’s ‘Independent Quarter’ in Church Street. They also sang in the main square in the afternoon courtesy of Marks and Spencers.
They are looking for sponsors who would be happy to give dedicated and talented young singers the exciting opportunity to participate in a European choral tour and competition. Can you help?
